While trying to import new subscribers, you may notice that some emails fail to be imported into your account. Sometimes this happens because the email is considered "role-based."
These restrictions aim to maintain list quality and ensure the high deliverability of emails, preventing harm to your sender reputation:
Some role-based emails, such as those starting with "admin@", "support@", and "billing@", are banned because they are not usually used by genuine subscribers. Such emails rarely sign up to lists voluntarily and are very often used for cold emailing or spam.
Gmail addresses with five characters or fewer are also included on the banned list because they are also very likely invalid. Such addresses often reflect suspicious activity or spam behavior, further justifying their exclusion.
Additionally, role-based addresses generally result in lower engagement from recipients and are often managed by multiple users, which reduces their suitability for subscriber lists. These addresses are also more likely to be flagged by spam filters, further reducing their effectiveness in email campaigns.
Important: According to the MailerLite Terms of Use and Anti-Spam Policy, it is not permitted to send marketing emails to subscribers who did not provide explicit consent. Furthermore, sending emails to role-based addresses without explicit consent is a violation of these policies.
Continuously avoiding sending emails to invalid or low-engagement addresses is critical for maintaining your sender reputation and staying compliant.
If you have an email address that you believe is legitimate, you may upload it via Add subscribers > Add single subscriber tab.
